5.Eliminating Dependency on the UN
When it comes to foreign relations and foreign policies, working together with many nations as a whole has a far bigger positive impact on all countries involved. The United States has moved away from dealing with the United Nations in favor of smaller informal forums to solve problems. By cutting out an organization like the World Trade Organization, America is making crucial foreign policy decisions bilaterally with a handful of representatives who have a voice in the matters. By cutting ties with the World Trade Organization and the United Nations, the United States is headed down a path that will lead to significant issues and fewer allies to come to our defense if needed. The next President must repair this damage and allow America to utilize the strength of many countries to repair foreign policy issues worldwide.
6.Allowing the Re-Shaping of Global Governance
The Republican Party has always been eager to reach out to our allies and allow them to have slightly bigger roles when it comes to the re-shaping of global governance. The problem is that these countries have been taking on greater and greater roles, and weak foreign policies have allowed countries like Brazil, China, and India to command huge roles in those international institutions. As they continue to take on more control, America is losing their tight grip and could lose control altogether in years to come. As these new powers continue to rise, now is the time to implement stronger foreign policies to protect America rather than idly sitting by and watching control slip away.
This list of huge foreign policy mistakes Republicans made that cannot be repeated as we face an election year or our problems will escalate out of control. If the Republicans identify these mistakes and design a clear plan for improving foreign policies, they have a better chance of gaining public support when the time to vote arrives. Simply ignoring the mistakes, and worse, repeating them again, will ensure that the Democratic Party has little trouble again this election year at taking the White House.
